What is the HSK?

The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is the official international standardized test of Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers, administered by China's Ministry of Education.

How many HSK levels are there?

The new HSK 3.0 standard has nine levels, from HSK 1 (beginner) to HSK 9 (mastery), grouped into beginner (1–3), intermediate (4–6) and advanced (7–9) bands. We offer preparation for all nine levels.

What is HSK 1 and how many words does it cover?

HSK 1 is the beginner level, covering basic words and simple everyday phrases. It is the ideal starting point for anyone learning Chinese for the first time.

How long does it take to prepare for the HSK?

It depends on your starting level and target — anywhere from a few weeks for HSK 1 to several months for higher levels. We assess your level first and recommend a realistic study plan.

Is the HSK required to study in China?

Many Chinese universities and scholarships require a minimum HSK level for Chinese-taught programs. Our advisors help you meet the exact requirement for your chosen university.
